He finally did it. Dweeb finally knows he is a great musician. The girls (Blondie, DQ, and myself) have been telling him for years he is great, but he didn't believe it. I believe I mentioned he is now in a band. They have been practicing up a storm... at our house. Good thing I love music. They really sound very good. Dweeb plays keyboards, little guitar, sax, flute, vocals. The demo has been made and this week we began shuffling around to the local establishments promoting. I know once people hear them, they will catch on locally and they will have more gigs than they can handle.
It's now time to expand that damn song list. You know what I'm talking about. THE bar list. The same old songs you hear everytime you go out to a bar with live music with a cover band. If I hear Mustang Sally, Walking On Sunshine, Johnny Be Good, etc one more time, I'll scream! Let's get some good rock-n-roll out there that people want to hear!
Dweeb is downstairs now. He is going to teach the band some Jethro Tull, Traffic, Pink Floyd, etc. Then they will stand apart from the average cover band.
Now, how was Dweeb finally convinced he is so good at piano and guitar and vocals? He tried out for another band. He had no intention of joining this other band. The other band had recorded. Recorded original music in Nashville and been on a little mini tour and was known regionally. Dweeb wanted to know if he was good enough to make this band. If they liked him, he knew he was a good musician. Well, of course they liked him. They LOVED him! They wanted him to come back. They got all excited. And he had to refuse them. Us girls shook our heads at him. He just had this big grin on his face. He now knows weren't lying.

Wow...how awesome!
I read the update on DQ... I'll be praying that all turns out well for all of you.
I seriously think all boys want to be in a band. So happy Dweeb's having some fun-- it's so awesome that you support him in all of this. I hope he tells you that each and every time they are making a ruckus downstairs! ;)
Take care, Sue.
That's awesome that that other "real" band wanted him to come back! Good thing you girls can say "you knew him when.."
I like that he's trying to expand the song list. That really shows some intitiative. How exciting that the band is doing something more than just practicing! I bet you're so proud.
I can't wait to hear about all the gigs they're going to get!
Yay for Dweeb and the band! Are you a back-up singer:)? It's great that Dweeb plays all these instruments - I always wanted to play the sax but I guess I haven't gotten around to it as yet.
That's really cool. Why don't aren't we listening to his band on your site?
Tell him to learn Long Train Running by the Doobie Brothers. It's my second favorite song to hear in a bar.
(the first is the Stevie Ray Vaughn version of Mary Had A Little Lamb but no one knows that one)
@Aynde: Both are on the list! Good girl! Mary Had a Little Lamb is already on the list and Doobie Brothers is getting added tomorrow! Dweeb and I booked first gig today for March 3rd. Woo Hoo!
@Malathionman: Demo is only about 30 sec of each song and not the greatest quality. If you want to listen to that I will be happy to put it up there. I'm waiting for a recording of an entire song.
That is awesome. I could understand his hesitation in believing other people though. Have you seen American Idol? They can't sing and when the judges ask them why they thought they could the contestants say something to the extent that their family told them they could. LOL . It's good that he know's ya'll were telling the truth though.
I want to hear the recording with you singing back up.
@malathionman: Believe me when I tell you: No you don't. That would be very scary. I do dance around like an idiot. Too bad I don't own a video camera.
ooh, I want to see you dancing. New chant: Dance Sue Dance. Dance Sue Dance!
How exciting and wonderful for Dweeb, really!
hugs,
Hi Sue!
I've only just now been able to figure out this RSS Feed business. I was not a fan before of friends like you leaving Live Spaces, because I was losing touch. But, now with RSS, and my understanding how to use it, I'm OK with it .. lol. I guess for me, with RSS I have to occasionally right click on a name and click on Refresh All to tell whether or not there is something new from the last visit.
Anyway, I'm all caught up with your news! The pics of Rusty, Blondie, DQ and Dweeb are GREAT. I smiled at Dweeb's "grin" thinking that "just knowing" is such a spirit booster. And DQ looks so sure of herself as she plans for the spring. She has come a long way. I know you must be pleased with the changes the last 8 months or so. I'm rooting for all of you!
Me? I'm doing just fine. I am on a long break from blog "writing", but not blog walking. The creative me needed time off. I'm all excited about New Years Resolutions that I'm continuing to carry out and are on plan. See ya again soon. Stay well please. ;-)

Hey you, haven't heard from you in a while...your pictures are wonderful, I will pray that everything goes perfectly for DQ, the puppy is darling and yeah for Dweeb.
Hugs,
Sabine
Your the best, thanks for the note, I needed the boost. Our paths should cross sometime when things settle down for you a bit. Have a happy weekend!
Rock Chalk KU!
Hugs,
S
Wow! You are a mean dweeb manager, making them play new songs.LOL. If MalathionMan wants to hear you sing so bad, maybe he could sing for you to start the challenge. Just an idea. : )
I am glad DQ is doing okay, I hope she realizes she can do this. It's hard to overcome our pasts, but it is possible.
Thanks...HUGS!
Sabine
aww, thats great and i hope that he continues his dream with favorable results
